I am Finally done with my sweater!!

I finally finished my sweater!!! It took most of the summer but i am done with it!!
The only thing is that it does not fit as well as i had hoped. It is really big,

witch is okay, i guess  it will be a slouchy sweater.
The thing i don't like is how big the neck was, it would not stay on my shoulders.

So i picked  up my needles and picked up the stitches in the neck and took it in and made it longer.

That is better, now it will stay on. It is still big, but i am pretty happy with it being my first sweater!

Of course Lucy had to keep me company while I was taking pictures of it. She looks so sleepy.

Plum Jam

Plum Jam
Summer time is always a time for making jam in my family.
This year my sister has a plum tree, so on Sunday her and I made some plum jam. We used her plums and we followed the recipe on the package of pectin.                                       But just regular plum jam would be boring... so we add 2 teaspoons of ginger and cinnamon to spice things up a bit.

But we cooked it for a little to long, and it set before we could turn them right side up. So there is a big gap at the bottom. It might not be the prettiest but it sure tastes good.

One of our favorite things to do with Jam is put to over cottage cheese.
All you do is get a bowl, put a wallop of cottage cheese, then a smaller wallop of plum jam on top, and enjoy!  It is so good!!!

Vail, Colorado

This past week I got to go to Vail Colorado!
My Dad does a lot of work in Vail, so this past week when he had to do some work in Vail I jumped on the opportunity to go with him.
It was really beautiful up there, I love the mountains, I would live in a ski/mountain town in a heart beat.

While my Dad was working I walked around the town and took lots of pictures.

I would have taken more pictures of the mountains, but it started to rain and they would not have worked out.

Night Vision!

Now you be asking what is Night vision? Well night vision is a christian music festival in Olathe Colorado. And it was is past Friday and Saturday.
Me and my Dad went on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun, but it is a outdoor festival and it was raining. So it was cold and wet.It was going to start at 5pm but because of the rain it did not start until 7pm. We got there at 530pm so we got to wait around in the rain.
I went to see Phil Wickham, and he was so good!!! He even played through the rain! It was drizzling when he started, but by the time he played his last song it was coming down pretty hard, and you could see all this water flying off the drums!! It was crazy!! But i had a great time even though it was cold and wet.

I love hummingbirds. I love to  watch them fly and  I love the little chirping sound they make. They are just so beautiful, and it just would not be summer without them.
Last summer we were up at are cabin in Gunnison county Colorado, and there where so many hummingbirds, so i set up my camera and started taking pictures of them.

Hummingbirds come to are feeder every spring. They spend the winter in Mexico or Central America but they return in the spring the USA and Canada. That is a long trip.

This summer just a few weeks ago me and my mom found this hummingbird nest. It is about the size of a golf ball, maybe a bit bigger. There where two tiny eggs in it.

My summer reading plans.

April Morning
The Red Badge of Courage
To kill a Mockingbird.

I am taking America Lit for school this year and i wanted to get a head start on my reading for it.
I have already finished April Morning and i must say I really liked it. I liked how the story was a new perspective on a historical event that we are all familiar with. I liked the characters, they where very likable and believable.

The Badge of Courage i am in the process of reading, i am about half way through it. So far i don't really like it. I don't really like the way it was written, I find it hard to follow and a little mundane. An honestly I don't like the main character, I find him very selfish. And it has this habit of making me fall asleep every time I read it.

I have not stared to Kill a Mockingbird yet, but i have seen the movie and I like the story a lot and i am excited to start reading it when the time comes.

Well, there has been a slight back.

Today i was knitting working on my sweater, i was just minding my own business just knitting away, and then...

I broke my knitting needle. Apparently my knitting was a little to intense for it to handle, given they where cheap plastic ones, but they where the only ones i could find in the right size.

But not to worry i went out and bought a new pair of knitting needle,
and my knitting is coming along nicely.

As i was taking pictures of my knitting today, Lucy just had to come and see what i was doing and get right in my face and make sure that i pay attention to her.

Crazy dog!

Ah summer,  last month was so hot! But this week and last week have been so nice, the monsoon is finally here and it is so nice and cool and cloudy. And this is when i truly start to love summer. This morning was so beautiful, i had to go out and take pictures.

This is little rue, we named him little rue because we have another older rooster and he looks the same but he is a lot bigger,he is just rue  so this one is little rue.

The other rooster would always pick on little rue so he jumped the fences of the chicken yard with his girl and now they roam the yard.

The Robin, we have so many in our yard, and i love robins, my moms name is even Robyn.

                                            Lavender, it smells so good.

My cat Tiger, yes he is very fat but very lovable, must of the time. He always seem to show up when I am taking pictures, i think he like his picture taken.

Happy Late Independence Day!

The 4th of July is already here and gone!!
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I had a good 4th of July.
I love independence day, its all about the freedom that created the best nation on earth!  I love the freedom and America patriotism that is in the air. And we remembered that even though times are hard and America is not at it full potential we are still PROUD TO BE AN AMERICA!
I also love how the whole family gets together and we have a big BBQ and fireworks!!! But this no fireworks:(. There is a ban on fireworks this year because of all the fires.
I wonder if the founding fathers ever thought that America would be the way it is today, I wonder if they know the significance of what they started that July 4th 1776.
This year I wanted to make a fun 4th of July dessert. So of course I turned to Pinterest and I found a cute recipe for ho ho firecrackers. I could not find ho ho so i used Swiss Rolls.

What you need:
 Swiss Rolls
Shooting stars decorating stuff.

It says July 4,i could not get a good picture of it.

I love them, they are so cute!!!

My First Sweater!

This is the summer that i am finally going to knit a sweater!
I have talked so much about how i want to make one, but i have never got around to making it. Until now, today is the day that i finally start making  my sweater!

This is the sweater i am making. I bought the seamless boatneck sweater from I really like it and it seems easy enough for my first time, well at least hope so.

The yarn i bought is 100% Acrylic. Acrylic is not my favorite kind of yarn, but it is inexpressive and i am knitting on a budget. It is also easy to knit and its washable.

I have finally started and so far so good! I am on round 2 of 84 + the neck and arms. YEAH!

Our Beautiful Colorado is on Fire!

Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs:
9News:    Fire officials said Friday morning the 16,750-acre fire is 15 percent contained and crews made "significant progress." On Tuesday, it was only 6,200 acres
The Waldo Canyon Fire forced more than 32,000 people out of their homes and destroyed structures on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, crews tried to prevent the fire from moving northeast and east.
Waldo Canyon Fire officials announced Friday that 347 homes were lost on 34 city streets based on a preliminary assessment.
9News: The Pine Ridge Fire burning near De Beque has prompted the evacuation of several residents in the area and remains only 5 percent contained As of 7:30 a.m. on Friday, one lane of I-70 was open in both directions through De Beque Canyon.According to officials, the 12,047-acre fire is in the path of 35 gas well pads. Operators have shut-in the wells so they can no longer produce oil and gas. At least 50 residents have been asked to leave their homes. The evacuation area includes south of S 1/2 Road. The fire was sparked by a lightning strike Wednesday afternoon west of 45.5 Road and east of I-70.

This is what i see from my house,
I live in Grand Junction which is about 45 minutes from De Beque, and this morning the whole valley was filled with smoke, you could smell the smoke.

I only mentioned a few of the many fires  in Colorado and there are many more across the country.  I ask that you would join with me in prayer for all the people affected by all these fires and to pray for rain! It is so dry this year we need lots of rain.

I was co-counselor with Naomi who is a really good friend.  We had so much fun!!! this was my first year being a counselor and i loved every minute of it, even though we had cold showers, really uncomfortable beds, and a very busy week we never seemed to get a break, it was so fun and i would do it again in a heart beat.

Me and Naomi

Group picture! These are all of the girls in are room.
There where 8 girls in are room all of them were 5th or 6th graders. We bought them all matching bright green bandannas, they were a huge hit.

The theme this year was Transformed, so we decorated are room with Caterpillar and butterflies.

we made each girl a butterfly with her name on it and put them all on the door.

Each year they divided the whole camp into four teams: Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow. This year are whole church group and another group was on the blue team. And Blue team kicked butt, we got CAMP CHAMPS!! Really all you get is some ice cream, a t-shirt and bragging rights!!
